What is the ElevenLabs MCP?
The ElevenLabs MCP is an ElevenLabs-hosted Model Context Protocol server that connects an ElevenLabs workspace to compatible AI assistants such as Claude.
MCP gives Claude a structured list of tools it can call. Instead of asking Claude to explain how to open ElevenLabs, choose a model, generate an asset and download it manually, Claude can invoke the supported ElevenLabs tools from inside the conversation.
The hosted MCP currently covers two broad areas:
- ElevenCreative: generate speech, transcripts, dubbing, music, sound effects, images and video.
- ElevenAgents: inspect, create and update voice/chat agents and their configuration.
ElevenLabs says the connector is hosted by ElevenLabs, so there is no server for the user to run or maintain.

What changed in September 2026?
ElevenLabs had already offered MCP tools for managing ElevenLabs Agents. On September 14, 2026, the company expanded the hosted MCP into a much broader creative connector.
ElevenLabs says one MCP installation can now generate:
- text to speech
- speech to text
- dubbing
- music
- sound effects
- images
- video
The company says the connector can draw on more than 50 models and can generate assets inline in the assistant conversation.

How to connect ElevenLabs MCP to Claude
For normal Claude chat, the simplest route is the official connector directory. You do not need to manually host a server or paste an ElevenLabs API key.
- Open Claude and go to Customize → Connectors, or open Claude’s connector directory.
- Find ElevenLabs.
- Select Connect.
- Sign in to your ElevenLabs account in the OAuth window.
- Authorize the ElevenLabs workspace you want Claude to access.
- Return to Claude and enable the connector in the conversation where you want to use it.
- Ask Claude for the media asset or ElevenLabs action you want in plain language.
ElevenLabs describes this as a one-time OAuth sign-in with no API keys to manage, and says the access can be revoked later.

How to connect ElevenLabs MCP to Claude Code
ElevenLabs publishes a separate setup command for Claude Code.
claude mcp add --transport http elevenlabs https://api.elevenlabs.io/v1/mcp
Then, inside a Claude Code session, run:
/mcp
The browser opens the ElevenLabs OAuth flow. After authentication, Claude Code can call the tools exposed by the hosted MCP server.
The server URL is:
https://api.elevenlabs.io/v1/mcp
Claude Code command: ElevenLabs MCP setup.
Create ElevenLabs voiceovers directly from Claude
Text to Speech is one of the simplest creative MCP workflows.
ElevenLabs says you can ask for a voiceover using a voice from the ElevenLabs library, describe the line and delivery you want, and receive the generated audio back in the conversation.
A prompt can specify things such as:
- the script
- the intended tone
- the style of delivery
- the target voice
- the role of the narration inside a larger campaign or video
The important difference from ordinary Claude is that Claude is not synthesizing the ElevenLabs voice itself. It calls ElevenLabs through MCP, and ElevenLabs performs the media generation.
Claude can also trigger transcription and dubbing
Speech to Text with Scribe
ElevenLabs says a recording can be passed through its Scribe speech-to-text system and returned as a transcript with speaker labels and timestamps.
The company says Scribe supports 99 languages.
Dubbing
The same connector can run a dubbing workflow. ElevenLabs says the dub can preserve the original speaker’s voice, tone and delivery while translating the material into another language.
This makes a workflow such as transcribe → rewrite → translate → dub possible from one Claude conversation without manually switching between separate ElevenLabs tools.

Create music and sound effects through the same connector
The hosted MCP also exposes ElevenLabs music and sound-effect generation.
ElevenLabs says users can request a track in a chosen genre or style, with or without vocals. A prompt can describe the desired mood, role in the project and creative direction.
Sound effects use the same general workflow: describe the effect and Claude can invoke the relevant ElevenLabs tool to generate variations.
That matters for video production because the voiceover, background music and individual sound effects can all be generated from the same creative brief rather than through separate applications.
Yes, ElevenLabs MCP can generate images and actual video
“Video” in this release is not just shorthand for generating narration for an existing video.
ElevenLabs says the MCP can:
- generate an image
- edit an image
- animate an image into video
- add lip-sync
The image and video tools sit alongside the audio tools in the same connector. That lets Claude coordinate the visual generation with the script, voice, music and sound design.
So the answer to “Can Claude create video with ElevenLabs MCP?” is yes: Claude can orchestrate ElevenLabs’ image/video generation tools through MCP, including image creation, image editing, animation into video and lip-sync.
Video capability: ElevenLabs September 2026 MCP release.
A single brief can produce a complete creative draft
The strongest use case is not one isolated voice clip. ElevenLabs says a single brief can produce a script, voiceover, music bed, sound design and video.
A prompt could be structured like this:
Create a 20-second product ad. Write a concise script, generate a confident voiceover, create cinematic background music, add subtle sound effects, create the visuals, animate them into a short video, add lip-sync where appropriate, and keep the tone consistent across the full piece.
Claude can break the request into tool calls and ask ElevenLabs for the required assets. ElevenLabs describes the goal as reducing the need to stitch the individual parts together across multiple separate applications.
This does not mean every first generation will be a finished commercial asset. ElevenLabs specifically positions ElevenCreative Studio as the place to make precise final edits.
Where do the generated voice, music and video files go?
ElevenLabs says every generation created through the MCP lands in the user’s ElevenCreative workspace.
From there, the project can be opened in Studio for more detailed editing. ElevenLabs specifically mentions:
- adjusting the timeline
- refining narration
- layering music
- adding or changing sound effects
- exporting the finished work
This creates a useful split between the two products:
| Stage | Best role |
|---|---|
| Claude + MCP | Briefing, orchestration, generating assets and assembling a strong first version. |
| ElevenCreative Studio | Precise timeline, narration, music, sound and final-cut refinement. |

One connector can reach more than 50 models
ElevenLabs says the creative MCP draws on over 50 models through the same connector.
The practical point is not that a user has to manually pick from 50 models for every request. ElevenLabs describes the agent workflow as accepting a plain-language brief and selecting appropriate models/tools to produce the requested assets.
The MCP page also says every node available in ElevenLabs Flows is available through the MCP, so the assistant can access the same general range of building blocks that can be used on the Flows canvas.
The same MCP can manage ElevenLabs voice and chat agents
The creative tools are an expansion of the same hosted MCP that ElevenLabs already used for ElevenAgents.
ElevenLabs says the connector can also:
- create new agents from a description
- update system prompts
- change voices and first messages
- list and compare agent configurations
- duplicate or delete agents
- estimate LLM usage and cost
- retrieve widget configurations and share links
If a team already connected ElevenLabs for agent management, ElevenLabs says the new creative tools are available through that same connector without a second creative MCP setup.
Hosted ElevenLabs MCP vs the older open-source MCP server
This distinction matters because older tutorials can send users toward a different setup.
| Area | New hosted ElevenLabs MCP | Original MCP server |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | Hosted by ElevenLabs. | Runs locally. |
| Authentication | OAuth sign-in. | Requires an ElevenLabs API key. |
| Maintenance | No server for the user to maintain. | Developer manages the local MCP setup. |
| Claude setup | Connector directory or remote MCP URL. | Local developer configuration. |
| Creative generation | Current hosted connector includes the expanded voice, music, image and video stack. | Older tutorials describe the original developer-oriented toolset. |
ElevenLabs updated its 2025 MCP article to point users toward the new hosted server for greater security and easier integration.

Which Claude plans can use the connector?
Anthropic says remote MCP custom connectors are available across Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans in Claude, Cowork and Claude Desktop. Free users are limited to one custom connector.
ElevenLabs itself is available as a directory connector, so the normal route is even simpler than manually adding a custom server.
For Team and Enterprise environments, connector availability and permissions can also be controlled by organization owners/admins.
Claude remote MCP access: Anthropic — custom connectors using remote MCP.
OAuth, permissions and workspace control
The new hosted connector is built around OAuth rather than asking users to paste an ElevenLabs API key into Claude.
ElevenLabs says:
- access is scoped to the connected ElevenLabs workspace
- the connection can be revoked
- workspace admins can decide which tools the connection is allowed to call
- data residency is selected at connection time
Anthropic separately warns that connectors can access and potentially modify external services according to the permissions granted. Review approval requests carefully, especially when the action changes an ElevenLabs agent or generates publishable media.
For teams, a useful principle is to expose only the tools required for the workflow rather than granting full agent-management permissions when the user only needs creative generation.
Useful ElevenLabs MCP prompts for Claude
Voiceover
Create a 15-second voiceover for this script using a confident, polished female delivery. Keep the pace fast but natural and return the generated audio.
Music
Create a 30-second cinematic electronic background track with no vocals. It should build gently and leave space for narration.
Sound effects
Generate three short futuristic interface sound effects for scene transitions. Keep them subtle rather than aggressive.
Transcription and dubbing
Transcribe this recording with speaker labels and timestamps, then create a Spanish dub that preserves the original speaker's tone.
Video
Create a short product video from this brief. Generate the key visual, animate it, add a voiceover, background music and sound design, and use lip-sync if a speaking character appears.
These are workflow examples, not fixed commands. The exact tools Claude chooses depend on the capabilities ElevenLabs exposes through the live MCP connection.
If ElevenLabs MCP is not working in Claude
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| ElevenLabs is not available in the conversation | Open the connector/tool menu and make sure ElevenLabs is enabled for that chat. |
| Claude asks you to reconnect | Open Customize → Connectors and complete or refresh the ElevenLabs OAuth connection. |
| Claude Code cannot see the MCP | Confirm that https://api.elevenlabs.io/v1/mcp was added, then run /mcp and finish OAuth in the browser. |
| The connector can read but cannot perform an action | Check the ElevenLabs workspace permissions and which MCP tools the admin has allowed. |
| You followed an old tutorial asking for an API key | You may be looking at the original local MCP. The current hosted connector uses OAuth and does not require an API key. |
| Generated media needs detailed editing | Open the resulting project in ElevenCreative Studio for timeline and final-cut control. |
BeeVaults takeaway: ElevenLabs MCP turns Claude into an orchestration layer for the ElevenLabs creative stack. One hosted OAuth connection can move from a plain-language brief to voiceover, transcript, dub, music, sound effects, images and video, while ElevenCreative remains the workspace for storing and refining the generated assets. For ordinary Claude users, the connector-directory install is the simplest path; Claude Code users can add the same hosted server directly from the terminal.
